2010 ♥

I just hope that this year would be waaaaaay better than my past years of existence. 2009 went well for me. I met a lot of new faces, gained new friends, had heartaches, had heartbreaks, had headaches, grew crazier, learned new thingies, shared love, lost love, laughed, cried, felt down, stood up, won, lost, sang, danced, smiled, frowned, hated, partied and a lot more. I'd always keep those memories on my treasure chest. I hope everybody started 2010 right :)

Toodles!

Before Our Times Run Out

So, my turn to deliver my Final Speech for our Speech Communication 10 class' finished. I'd just like to share the thing that I wrote and delivered for it. My piece is entitled, "Before Our Times Run Out". I sang on the parts where I had to sing. I just hate myself so much because I forgot to ask my friends to take a video of me. Argh! Oh well. It goes like this:

Have you ever heard of (Sings the first stanza of Rent’s “Seasons of Love”) If you must know, that song’s from the eighth-longest-running Broadway show, “Rent.” Rent has been written to tackle social issues namely homophobia, multiculturalism, capitalism, addiction and AIDS. The name of the man behind this spectacular musical is Jonathan Larson. He is an American composer and playwright. He wrote “Rent” for more or less five years. And do you know what’s tragic? Aortic Aneurysm hit him the night before the off-Broadway premiere of “Rent”, died and remained unable to see how great his work went.

Before anything else, I would like to greet everybody a good morning. I am Micah Jemima Quirimit and this might seem cliché but I am here to talk about death and life. Most of us must have been listening to what our Philosophy teacher recently taught us. She said that there are three kinds of death. First is when you die too early and be left unable to do a lot of things that you want in life. Jonathan Larson’s death can be categorized on this since he died a little too early. The second one is when you die too late. It’s where one has done everything he has to in his life that he comes to the point wherein he just waits for his existence to end. And the last kind of death is when you die on time.

But, whatever, right? Sooner or later, everybody will still come to the moments of their death. It’s just that we don’t know when, where and how. But don’t get me wrong. What I’m saying is that before all of our hourglasses’ sand flow through the narrow tube to the bottom bulb, before our times run out and before everything’s too late, let us do our bests to try to live our lives to the fullest. To help each and everyone achieve a happy and a life worth living, I would like to share 3 tips to you. First, learn new things. Most of us are afraid to discover new things but don’t you think it’s fun to acquire new information and skills? Give it a try. Second, offer little acts of kindness. You don’t have to put a huge effort and spend large amounts of money to show compassion. Kindness can be shown by opening doors, accompanying an old woman who’s crossing the street or by simply smiling. Trust me, doing so can make you feel good. Lastly, laugh and love. Watch funny movies, exchange jokes with a friend or go read humor-filled books. Laughing can make your life feel easier to manage. Love, show love, share love and you’ll surely receive love. I hope these three simple things can make your lives have greater values. Just always remember to L-O-L. Learn new things, offer little acts of kindness and laugh and love.

Nobody knows when one’s existence will end but we can make ourselves ready for anything and make our lives worth living in our own simple ways. Once again, I am Micah Jemima Quirimit and my final message? (Sings “Measure your life in love.”)

Yeah, it went like that. I may not be the greatest public speaker but I know that I did my best to make my performance really good and I really felt happy about the outcome. I know that I have improved and that I did waaaaaay better than before. When I received the little pieces of paper containing my SC10mates' comments, I felt satisfied, as well. Most of the comments were positive and only a few were negative ones. Yay me! Here are some of their comments:

Haha!" -anonymous

"Myka, nice outfit as well as the voice. So love it! The speech has a nice meaning! Let's love one another even if the parting time is near! Love lots!" -Grace Rubis

"Micah, the discussion of death and life lacks depth. Good diction though." -Janine Dimaranan

"Micah, ang ganda mo, pati boses. Magandang topic, medyo gloomy kasi death. Look more to the audience. Transition: Death to life - good." -I believe this is Kuya Conrad

"Mica, loud voice! Love it. Good intro. Ang ganda mo! Wow! Good concentration w/ intro to the body of the speech!" - anonymous

"Micah, improving! Nice singing voice. Palakpakan si Micah!" -anonymous

"Go! Go! Go! Waha!" -Jomari

"Micah, nice voice! Challenging topic. Loud voice. Kulang ng gestures. Nice thoughts. You speak like Ariane. Nice advices. Micah, keep in touch. I'll miss you. xoxo" -Charlotte

"Micah! Nakakainlove ang voice mo! Weeh. So galing! Galing!" -anonymous

"MICAH, GANDA TOPIC. I LAB IT! Grad. song namin yung kinanta mo. PHILO!!!" -anonymous

There! Those are some of the comments that I received. Haha! I appreciate negative comments so much. I'll miss SC10 class :(

Please leave comments on this blogpost.

That's all for now!

Elam!

Oh well.

Ang weird kasi e, you know? Ang baba na ng boses niya, as in! Tapos pumipiyok na rin. Tumangkad tapos pumayat.

LMAO.

Mendelian genetics tapos siyempre, problem yung binigay. Nadadalian ka ba dun? Gawin mo homework ko.

At eto pa, last na talaga 'to. Lokong 'yun. At NGAYON, oo, NGAYON na yung elimination.

TOODLES!
